THE KALEIDOSCOPE PROJECT
The process, experience, and product
A LIFE STEEPED IN COLOR
ABOUT THE KALEIDOSCOPE PROJECT
Synesthesia, by definition, is the production of a sense impression relating to one sense or part of the body by stimulation of another sense or part of the body. With the Kaleidoscope project, we want to materialize the amazing experience of hearing music and seeing color. With the support of The Little Gallery Underground, located in James Madison University's Music Library, we will shed a light to the cognitive phenomenon  of Synesthesia!
THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS
PURPOSE
The Kaleidoscope Project's goal is to create a portal through the eyes of people who have synesthesia . This project is the collaboration of a team of musicians and multi-media visual artists who will take accounts and interviews of people with synesthesia, understand their cognitive experience through interview, and expose a different prospective to experiencing music.

MEET THE ARTISTS
VINNY OKECHUKWU
Vinny E. Okechukwu is a vocalist, actor and artist at James Madison University. He is a senior music major from Leesburg, Virginia who is perusing his B.M. in vocal performance at James Madison University. Okechukwu is one out of two curators of this installation. Possessing Chromesthesia, he wanted to study and describe a physiological phenomenon with visual art, making the unique experiences he and his peers have every day accessible to the common eye and ear. Okechukwu is beyond thankful to the support of his partner in crime, Annie Franks, the project participants, The Little Gallery Underground and the inspirations that help him cultivate his visions within the arts and life. He hopes you enjoy the exhibit as you take a closer look into the world of music and synesthesia.
ANNIE FRANKS
Annie Franks is a photographer and videographer at James Madison University. She is a senior Media Arts and Design major with a concentration in Digital Video and Cinema. Her love for media and music can be seen in her constant involvement in various organizations and non-academic projects. After playing piccolo in the Marching Royal Dukes for two years, she became one of the band’s Communications and Marketing Managers. This position lets her share the MRDs with the public through photos, videos, and social media. When Vinny Okechukwu approached Annie about The Kaleidoscope Project, she was thrilled to learn more about synesthesia and start a new project that combines her passion for music and photography. Franks hopes you enjoy the exhibit as much as she enjoys music, media, and french fries.
